Simple fix for Ethernet cable (Cat5e/Cat6) with broken pair(s)
Jeff shows a workaround for broken wires inside a Cat5e/Cat6 Ethernet cable by switching pins 1,2,3 and 6 to unused pairs. This is useful if you have a damaged Ethernet cable that cannot be replaced with broken internal pairs on these pins. Works with IP cameras, including those powered via standard PoE. Will not work with Gigabit Ethernet - these devices will drop to 100Mbps - or Extended PoE (ePoE). Some PoE network switches might not be compatible with this method as they use these spare wires for PoE, see https://bit.ly/2YJvZvv for more information.
