RTR‑ZM (Desktop 4G)

A desktop‑style 4G router with 4 × 1000M LAN ports and dual‑band WiFi‑5 ideal for small businesses, branch offices and multi‑camera CCTV setups that need solid wired switching and higher device capacity.

  • 4 × Gigabit LAN: connect NVRs, PoE switches (via injector), access controllers or head‑end equipment.
  • LTE Cat 6: carrier aggregation for improved throughput and stability under load.
  • Up to 64 users: suited to SMEs and shared workspaces.

Practical installer use cases

RTR‑ZS — ideal when portability and resilience matter

Use the RTR‑ZS where power reliability is a concern or when you need a temporary connection quickly:

  • Alarm communicator backup — keeps alarm reporting alive during short mains outages until mains is restored or generator starts.
  • Solo camera installations or single‑channel remote monitoring — small CCTV sites where one or two cameras stream at modest bitrate.
  • Temporary worksites, exhibitions or mobile maintenance teams — portable internet for technician laptops and tablets.
RTR‑ZM — wired backbone for small/medium sites

Choose the RTR‑ZM when you need to centralise wired devices at a site:

  • Multi‑camera CCTV with local NVR — use Gigabit LAN ports to connect NVR and an unmanaged PoE switch (use PoE injector or local PoE switch) for cameras.
  • Branch office connectivity — connect desktop PCs, access control panel, VoIP ATA and admin workstation with stable wired links.
  • Shared spaces and small retail stores — combine dual‑band WiFi and wired LAN to separate guest and device networks.

RTR‑ZL — high bandwidth and low latency

Deploy RTR‑ZL in sites where bandwidth and multi‑client performance are non‑negotiable:

  • Enterprise CCTV and cloud‑storage push — multiple 4K camera streams simultaneously to cloud or central servers.
  • Smart building hubs and analytics — on‑site AI processing combined with cloud backup and telemetry.
  • Event venues, large retail or corporate sites — support many concurrent users and mission‑critical traffic.
Cross‑model strategies

Typical installer patterns:

  • Primary WAN + RTR as failover: use RTR‑ZM or RTR‑ZL as cellular failover for fibre/copper WAN (automatic failover routing).
  • Dual‑SIM or multi‑carrier: provision two separate cellular providers when link redundancy is required (where supported by the carrier/SIM and network settings).
  • Battery‑backed edge: place RTR‑ZS at critical alarm/communicator racks to bridge the short gap during power transfer events.

Installer setup checklist & tips

  • Mount device in a ventilated enclosure; avoid heat traps for 5G models (RTR‑ZL) under sustained high throughput.
  • Use the RTR‑ZS battery for short outages only — it provides resilience for signalling and monitoring until mains is restored; for long outages pair with UPS or external battery packs where needed.
  • Keep the router close to other equipment for short Ethernet runs; use cat6 for PoE runs to cameras where possible.
  • For optimal mobile internet connectivity, place RTR-Z Series models in high and unobstructed areas; try different orientations to find the best spot.
  • Avoid metal enclosures — use external antenna feed when mounting inside cabinets to prevent signal attenuation (eg: 2 x SMA inputs for RTR-ZM).
  • For RTR‑ZL 5G deployments, test both 5G and 4G bands — sometimes 4G fallback offers more consistent range even if lower peak speed.
  • Segment CCTV and access control traffic on a dedicated VLAN or separate SSID to avoid interference with guest networks.
  • Configure QoS / bandwidth limits for camera streams to ensure stable upload when multiple devices are active.
  • Enable firewall rules and change default admin passwords. Where available, enable VPN (site‑to‑site) between the router and central NOC.
  • Schedule firmware updates during maintenance windows; for roaming sites consider locking APN and band settings after final tuning.
